Animal Tracking Skills Workshop
On this informative and hands-on field observation of animal track and sign, you can gain an understanding of the skill of animal tracking: footprint identification, animal gaits and patterns, sign tracking, habitat use, and interpretation of who the animals are and what they were doing.
After a short presentation and discussion, we’ll take a walk to observe who’s out there, then put to practice your newly-acquired knowledge. Coyote, Deer, Fox, Raccoon, Opossum, Skunk, Squirrel, Herons, Hawks, Owls, and many others have been track/sign-identified at this location.
Time and track availability permitting, you will learn to make a plaster cast.
Join us to learn to read the ground for an accurate account of the animals who call home in our local mountains and parks.
This class is led by instructor Robert Remedi, a locally certified tracker with over 30 years’ experience, one of the most knowledgeable trackers and wilderness teachers in the U.S. today.
Bring water, snacks, lunch, notebook/pen, hat, sunscreen, bowl, utensils.
